Aliens: Are They Real?

Mays Landing, New Jersey

Ever since space exploration started, there have been theories of whether or not humans are the only living species to exist. So far, only 5% of space has been explored, so scientists have been asking the question: What else is out there? Sightings and space exploration have led people to believe that there is more out there than what meets the eye.

UFO sightings have led scientists and regular people to believe that humans on planet Earth are not the only living creatures in the galaxy. It is up to interpretation whether these UFO sightings were true or not. However, the Pentagon reported in 2022 that U.S. government investigations since World War II have found no evidence of extraterrestrial activity. According to the United States government, most UFO sightings can be concluded to be ordinary misidentified objects.

Whilst UFO sightings can be proven untrue, NASA has discovered a planet where it may be possible to support life. This planet has been deemed “Super-Earth” and is located 137 light years away. It has not been officially proven if this planet can sustain life, however scientists are optimistic as the planet orbits around the habitable zone of its parent star. The distance of the planet from the star could give it the right temperature to be able to form liquid water on its surface. Unfortunately, there are many other factors at play when it comes to whether or not a planet can sustain life so it is unclear whether or not “Super Earth” actually contains life.

Though there is no clear evidence that there is life on other planets besides Earth, only five percent of the universe has been explored. So with NASA scientists researching new planets every day, there is a possibility that there may be a discovery of new life in space. Since so much of the universe is still left unexplored, it is impossible to determine just exactly what's out there.
